Greetings and salutations to all of our Career Magnet Academy scholars, parents, and rock-star faculty/staff! At the close of my first official week as the magnet facilitator at CMA, I could not be more excited about the progress being made here at the Pellissippi State Community College Straw Plains campus. As I type this post, I am being serenaded by buzz saws, nail guns, and hydraulic drills, and I cannot help but think about all of the work and time that has already been invested in our scholars and their futures.
David Allen Coe, of all people, said “It’s not the beauty of a building you should look at; it’s the construction of the foundation that will stand the test of time,” and, as you can see in the pictures of our progress here (see below), the foundations we are building will, indeed, stand the test of time.
Just as a solid building foundation is made of concrete and rebar, a solid educational foundation is built upon relationships. To this end, Mr. Faulconer, Mrs. Stowers, and I have been organizing our Kick Off Cookout which will take place here at the PSCC Straw Plains campus on Thursday, July 17th from 6:30-8:30. We will have food, sodas, and games as well as a vote for our school colors. Parents, siblings, and scholars are all invited as well as any friends of family who might be interested in the great things that are happening here at CMA. I cannot wait to meet all of you!
